Privacy Policy

Deal Watcher · Last updated 19 May 2026

This policy explains what data we collect while you use Deal Watcher during the beta, why we need it, and what choices you have. It is written in plain English and is not legal advice.

A. Who we are

Deal Watcher is a beta eBay alert tool for collectors and deal hunters. It helps you save search alerts, check eBay for matching listings, and receive email or phone/browser notifications when something fits your settings.

The service is operated by [Your name/company name] (UK). For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@[domain].

B. What data we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

Usage and technical data

  • Basic app usage needed to run the service
  • Error and debug logs to fix problems during beta
  • Device and browser information where needed for push notifications
  • Privacy-friendly analytics via Vercel Web Analytics, if enabled

C. Why we use this data

We use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Save and run your eBay alerts
  • Check eBay for listings that match your settings
  • Show results in your dashboard
  • Send email alerts when you have them enabled
  • Send phone or browser push notifications when you opt in
  • Prevent duplicate notifications for the same listing
  • Apply fair usage and plan limits during beta
  • Improve match quality and reliability while we test the product
  • Keep the service secure and running

D. Legal basis

We rely on a small number of straightforward bases under UK data protection law:

  • Contract / service delivery — to provide the alert service you sign up for
  • Legitimate interests — to improve, secure and operate the app in a reasonable way
  • Consent — where you opt into optional notifications, waitlist contact or similar choices

E. Third-party services

We use trusted providers to run Deal Watcher. They process data on our behalf or under their own terms when you interact with them directly:

  • Clerk — authentication, user management and waitlist
  • Vercel — hosting and deployment
  • Prisma Postgres / our hosted database — storing alerts, results and logs
  • Resend — sending transactional email alerts
  • eBay API — retrieving listing data for your searches
  • Vercel Web Analytics — privacy-friendly usage analytics, if enabled
  • cron-job.org — scheduled background trigger for alert checks, if configured

Each provider has its own privacy policy and terms. We choose providers we believe are appropriate for a small beta, but we do not control how third-party websites (including eBay) handle your data when you leave our app.

F. Analytics

We may use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the beta is used and what to improve. Based on Vercel's documentation, this analytics approach does not use cookies and stores anonymised analytics data.

We have not added a cookie banner because we are not using cookie-based analytics at this time. If that changes, we will update this policy.

G. Push notifications

You can choose to enable phone or browser push notifications for strong matches. If you do, we store a push subscription so alerts can reach your device.

You can turn off push notifications in your browser or device settings at any time. Email alerts are separate and depend on your alert settings.

H. Data retention

We keep account and alert data while your account is active and you use the service. Result and notification logs may be kept for a reasonable period to prevent duplicate alerts, show history in the app, and improve reliability.

During beta we may reset or clean test data. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing support@[domain].

I. Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Contact us at support@[domain]and we will try to help within a reasonable time. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

J. Beta status

Deal Watcher is in private beta. Features, limits and data structures may change. We currently focus on Pokémon cards, slabs and sealed products, but the product may expand later.

If you want your data removed before a wider launch, email us and we will do our best to honour the request.
